The Bidding Applet
The Bidding Applet is split into 2 parts, the Information Section and the Java Bidding Applet.
The Information Section
This section contains four tabs: Catalogue, My Lots, Sale Details, Help. These pages are independent of the Java Bidding Applet.Catalogue
The entire Catalogue for the auction is displayed here, and you can select which range of lots you want listed. Clicking on a lot will open up a full size image of that lot. (Please note: depending on your connection speed to the Internet, viewing the full-sized images will affect the performance of the applet). My Lots
This section contains an unconfirmed listing of the lots you have won. You will receive your invoice with the confirmed listing the day after the sale ends. For your reference, you can print a copy of this page by activating the "Print" button located at the bottom of the Lot List.Sale Details
Information specific to the auction in which you are participating is available under this tab.Help
Information that will assist you with most difficulties you may have. If the answer to your problem is not listed, then please call the technical support number which appears. The Java Bidding Applet
There are 3 main sections to the Bidding Applet. The Description Section, the Bidding Section and the Messages Section (you may want to view an illustration while you read the following text). The Description Section
- The lot number of the current lot(s) for sale is displayed. Important messages about how the lot is being sold is also displayed in the uppermost (green) field of the Bidding Applet.
- To the top left the image(s) for the lot(s) being sold are displayed. (In the case of multiple lots being sold concurrently, the images will change and the lot number of the lot being displayed is indicated to the bottom right of the image).
- To the right of the photo, the lot(s) description(s) are displayed.
The Bidding Section
- To the left of the Bidding Section, the Current Bid amount is displayed; this is the highest bid that the auctioneer has received for the lot. Immediately beneath this amount you can see if the bid is on the Internet or in the Auction Room.
- Beneath the Current Bid amount, there is a currency conversion. This conversion serves only as a guide. All Invoices are to be settled in the main currency of the Auction.
- On the right hand side, you will find the "Place Bid" button. Above the button is the "Asking Bid" field. This field indicates the next bid that the Auctioneer is asking for. You can manually enter an amount yourself; but please note the Auctioneer will not always accept bids outside of his established increment.
- The last part of the Bidding section is the Bid Status section. This field indicates if you are winning the current lot or not. So that it is clear and easy to follow there is a system of statuses:
You are the Highest Bidder - You are currently the highest bidder.
You are Not the Highest Bidder - You are losing the lot; place another bid.
Congratulations you have won the lot.
Winning bid amount 40 EUR.- You have won the lot.
Your bid has been noted by the Auctioneer.
Bid amount 10 EUR.- You have been the successful bidder on a lot that is being sold conditionally (See the explanation of conditional sales below).
The Messaging Section
- Important Broadcast and Auctioneer messages are displayed at the bottom of the applet. These messages are sent to all GoWebcast participants, and are one-way communication only.

Important Auctioneering Terms
"Conditional Sale of Lots"
Any lot(s) sold conditionally are subject to approval by the seller after the auction. If you have been the highest bidder, the auctioneer will have made a note of your bid. Once the sale has been approved, you will receive confirmation from the Auctioneer. Under the "My Lots" tab, these lots will show "yes" in the "Sold Conditionally" Column. Please pay particular attention to the number of pieces in lots that are being offered with "Option" or "Choice".
"Times the Money Bid"
This term is commonly used in the United States. If a lot with more than one piece is being sold with "times the money bid," then the total amount to be paid will be the winning bid amount times the number of pieces in the lot.- Example: Lot #1 has 4 pieces. You win the lot for 50 USD; the total amount to be paid will be 50 USD x 4 = 200 USD.
"One Money"
This Term is commonly used in the United States. It is the opposite of "times the money bid". If a lot with more than once piece is being sold with "One Money" the total amount to be paid will be the winning bid amount only.- Example: Lot #2 has 4 pieces. You win the lot for 50 USD; the total amount to be paid will be 50 USD.
